![]() And then Ossobaw Island off Richmond Hill. Ditto Wassaw Island, which is just beyond Skidaway. No amenties, but a much larger island that Tybee itself. It's got several miles of beautiful white sand. Little Tybee Island beach (which is just across the Tybee straits from South Beach) is hugely popular with locals and very crowded on the weekends. Well, if you have a boat there are several beaches you can go to with your dog and nobody is going to bother you. I've been there im65 %sure you can take your dog but I'd check before you go. There is a beach called butter bean beach. I wish dogs were allowed on the beach because I would take mine to the beach on tybee every day. Numerous beaches you can take your dog too. It's an island you can only get to by boat but it is a fully functional island. So if you do have a boat and you want to find one near Savannah, look up Daufuskie island. Perhaps they could require a permit for dogs on the beach? I wonder how much someone would pay for a day pass? How much would you pay for a day pass for your dog? Wow, I think that is a stroke of genius on my part. If I lived there, I would appreciate these protections against the tourists, who aren't invested in the place. Tybee needs to charge for parking in order to pay for the services required to keep the beach replenished with sand, and for police coverage against the drunken visitors. Savannah is very dog friendly, but on any walk downtown you can see a pile of dog doo, left by irresponsible owners. If dog owners picked up after their dogs, there would be no issue, but they don't. It could be argued that those who pay taxes to live on Tybee do not care if your dog would enjoy the beach or not. I think all dog owners should get together in protest and bring our pets to the beach all on the same day in solidarity. No one has the right to tell you what you can and cannot do on a pubiic beach. The ocean water/beach belongs to everyone. I pay taxes just like everyone else and if I want to bring my dog on Tybee or any other beach I will. Walking on Tybee I find more broken glass and litter than any other beach I have ever been too. Of course dog owners pick up the dogs' business with I'm sure a few exceptions but that goes for everything else too. This is something new to me after having lived in Connecticut with so many beautiful beaches and not one beach post dogs not allowed. I am having difficulty understanding why dogs are not allowed on a beach like Tybee or any beach for that matter. I am sure you won't and everything will work out fine. Don't take a dog to that beach and then see if you get a ticket. Please accept you responsiblity and not try to find fault in others actions. I can already tell how that conversation went down. The lawyer making a statement saying that is what they do to keep black people off the beach is stupid and crazy. The point is you were the only person with a dog. Who cares if you were the only black person on the beach. I know what the purpose is of the NAACP and dogs on beaches isn't one of them. ![]() I am not tryin to make this something else, I would say you have done that with going to the NAACP. Actually I was flying a kite out there this past weekend after Christamas. I have been on Tybee Island plenty of times and have seen the signs myself, so my mouth is not running off and I have no emotional tie to this. And also "the dog was never in my possesion", it was your dog, so what is the point of saying this? If it wasn't your dog that would have been the first thing you said. I just wonder why you use the "the dog weighs 9 pounds", my students use statements like this to belittle their actions all the time. ![]() Before you let your mouth run off with your emotions check out the area yourself. Oh, and by the way I was the only b/f in the court out of 200 people. It was a direct quote from the attorney and the ticket was dismissed. You are trying to read something else into this.
